ProGrade Digital has developed its new CFexpress™ Type B 4.0 Cobalt class memory cards with next-generation performance leveraging PCIe Gen 4 interconnect with NVMe host controller interface for use in future Mirrorless, DSLR and high-definition video cameras. Available in a 1.3TB capacity and performance levels provide read speeds up to 3400MB/s – CFexpress Type B cards are ideal for quickly off-loading high volumes of video or RAW photos and sustained write speeds up to 2100MB/s – perfect for uninterrupted, cinematic capture of RAW 4K or 6K video.

NOTE: Current CFexpress cameras will not be able to take advantage of the maximum speed of this card. Until CFexpress 4.0 cameras are introduced, the benefit of this card is tripling the speed of your workflow when downloading content with the ProGrade Digital PG05.6 USB 4.0 Reader.

What is the CFexpress 4.0 Type B Cobalt memory card?

CFexpress is a removable media standard created by the CompactFlash Association. There were three form factors defined in the standard: Type A, Type B, and Type C. All form factors leverage the PCIe® Gen 4 interface for higher performance based on a computing industry storage interface and utilize NVM Express™ 1.4c protocols.

Is the CFexpress 4.0 Type B Cobalt memory card RED approved?

Yes, the CFexpress 4.0 Type B 1.3TB Cobalt memory card is RED approved.

Will the CFexpress Type B Cobalt memory card work with Nikon Z series cameras?

Yes, Nikon has released firmware to allow the Nikon Z6 and Z7 to work with CFexpress Type B Cobalt memory cards.

Is the CFexpress Type B Cobalt card compatible with XQD?

Certain cameras that use XQD memory cards can get a firmware update from the device manufacturer to allow that device to use CFexpress Type B cards.

Do you make a CFexpress memory card reader?

Yes, we have our CFexpress Type B single-slot USB 4.0 reader (PG05.6) and CFexpress Type B and SD dual-slot reader USB 3.2 Gen. 2 (PG05.5). To achieve the full speeds of the CFexpress Type B 4.0 card, we recommend going with the PG05.6.
