I have not had a chance to use this slot memory card reader very much, but I bought this reader and some ProGrade Digital SD UHS-II cards for my camera after having lost a large number of images. While I cannot say for certain that the problem I’d had was due either to the cards I had at the time, or due to trying to download to my computer by hooking up the camera by its cable, I knew I needed to make a change. I did a fair amount of research online and decided on ProGrade SD cards. I was then happy to find that there was also a highly rated card reader by ProGrade as well. What I can say about my experience so far is that the card reader is fast! I use Lightroom, and images are downloaded quickly from the reader, and brought in to Lightroom for me to view and find the ones worth keeping. I also like the fact that the reader is compact and easy to take along if I travel.

Yes, you can plug the USB C cable into a Thunderbolt 3 port on your Mac. However, you will get 10Gb/sec (USB 3.1 Gen 2 Speed), not 40Gb/s (Thunderbolt 3 speed).
Does this work with a newer iPad Pro with given read speed?
Yes, the SD Dual-Slot Reader will work with an iPad that has a USB-C connector.
